Welcome/Who We Are

FUSE Student Ministry gets its name from the Bible’s telling of Elijah calling down fire from heaven in 2 Kings 18. In the story, Israel is a nation who does not believe that God is the true God.

Elijah’s burden is to prove that there is only one God and His name is Yahweh. As he talks to his God, he says, “Answer my prayer so that they (the nation) may know that you are God.” As Elijah concludes his prayer, the Bible says that Fire fell from heaven. As a result the people, who saw the miraculous fire, fell to their faces and came to know God. A similar scenario exists today – there is a world that does not know who the true God is, yet its people are searching. My prayer is that students will choose to live so radically for God – “on fire for Him” – that those around them will notice and understand the reality of one true God.

FUSE is our name and our challenge.

BOMB logoI am so glad that you are interested in learning more about First Baptist Church’s heart for students. FUSE provides inspiration, discipleship, and activities for students in grades 6 through 12. Our vision for students is for them to meet God, meet friends, and discover God’s purpose in their lives.

We meet every Sunday morning at 9:30am in the Student Center learning the Basics Of My Belief ("The BOMB"), and our midweek outreach service meets every Wednesday night at 6:45pm for Middle Schoolers, and every Thursday at 6:45pm for High Schoolers in the Student Center. Small Groups meet throughout the week. Camps, retreats, special events and activities happen throughout the year.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions that are not answered here. I look forward to you and your student “fusing” with our student ministries.

For Him,
Blake Clark
